Implants

Home / Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that the Dentist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth, bridge or denture.

Dental implants are a good option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to occlusal disease, periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. After the implant is placed by an oral surgeon, the implants are exposed and another titanium piece, called an “abutment,” is attached to these posts. A porcelain crown, bridgework, or fixed denture is cemented to this abutment by the dentist. If possible the abutment and crown can get screwed into the post as well (screw-retained). Only this piece is visible, as the implant looks, feels, and functions as a natural tooth. While the procedure is lengthy, most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life and temporary tooth options are available in the mean time.  Ir you are missing all your teeth implant over dentures can be fabricates as well, call a 4 on 1 overdenture. This is a great option for patients that don’t want to remove their dentures for a more fixed denture option.
